Machine Technician

Position Description
Position Status: Hourly Non-Exempt
Report To: Shift Lead
Location(s): Indianapolis, Logansport

General Position Summary
Operates machines to process metal such as copper and ferrous alloys, into coils or cut-to-
length (CTL) based on specified dimensions. Load, unload and package coils or CTL sheets based
on customer specifications.

Essential Functions

1. Review work orders and material tags to identify customer specifications.
2. Package finished products on pallets per customer specifications.
3. Load material on pay-off equipment.
4. Unload material off pay-off equipment.
5. Band coils with poly or steel banding.
6. Build/ modify pallets to customer specifications.
7. Build custom crates to customer specifications.
8. Verify metal obtained from inventory meets customer specifications.
9. Record pertinent data on work order.
10. Attach identifying tag or labels to materials.
11. Place scrap materials, such as metal or cardboard, into appropriate hoppers and bins.
12. Maintain a clean work area, machines, tools, and equipment.
13. Inform leadership of any material or condition issues.
14. Ability to utilize computer programs to access process reference documents, work
    orders, and complete necessary process data entry.
15. Extensive standing/walking
16. Repetitive bending/stooping.
17. Lift up to 50 pounds and manipulate up to 5000 pounds using over-head cranes and
    hoists.
18. Able to work safely with machinery and a variety of hazardous chemicals.
19. Perform work outside of normal shift hours as needed.
20. Maintain regular and satisfactory attendance.

Qualifications
High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred and negative drug screen
